Edward (born February 15, 2009 in Springfield, Missouri; died May 4, 2012 in Birmingham) was a 12-foot-tall, 1,200 pound male Baringo giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi) at the Birmingham Zoo.
Edward was fathered by Stretch at the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, and came to Birmingham's new "Trails of Africa" exhibit on September 8, 2010. After a quarantine period, he joined the zoo's other giraffes, Jalil, Willow and Zuri Anne, in the savannah area in November.
In May 2012 Edward was injured in a fall near the Giraffe Encounter exhibit. His back right leg suffered a compound fracture, necessitating euthanization.
