Fultondale library in 2019

The City of Fultondale Public Library is a city-owned public library serving the city of Fultondale and, through its participation in the Jefferson County Library Cooperative, all Jefferson County residents. Cristi Starkey has served as library director since 1999.

The library was formerly located at 1015 Old Walker Chapel Road, which now houses the city's department of inspection services. Lynnwood Church of God met at that location while constructing a new church building in 1978.

The present 8,000 square foot library building opened on May 22, 2013. It is located behind the ABC Store No. 109 and north of Winn-Dixie supermarket, at 500 Byrd Lane. Construction of the $1.5 million building was initially set to begin in 2011, but was delayed by the city's response to the April 2011 tornado outbreak.
