Ishkooda is a community located in the Powderly neighborhood of Southwest Birmingham. It was developed as a mining town by the Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Co. around its No. 11 to No. 15 ore mines on Red Mountain, between Mimm's Gap and Grace's Gap, and along a spur of the Birmingham Mineral Railroad extending northeast from Wenonah.
