Jefferson County Jail can refer to a number of facilities used to house prisoners awaiting trial or sentencing in the Jefferson County Circuit Court. The jails have historically been connected to the courthouse building.
- The early county courthouses in Elyton included jail cells.
- Jefferson County Jail (4th Avenue), a brick jailhouse behind a 20-foot wall on the corner of 21st Street and 4th Avenue North, built along with the 1875 courthouse and maintained during the era of the 1889 courthouse, and then demolished in 1931 when the present Jefferson County Courthouse opened.
- Holding cells were located on the 7th floor of the Jefferson County Courthouse from its completion in 1931 until the 1990s.
- The Mel Bailey Criminal Justice Center, constructed in 1984 at 809 Richard Arrington Jr Boulevard North, housing criminal courts and a jail with 1,075 beds.
- The Jefferson County Public Safety Building Bessemer Division, constructed in 1985 at 1822 2nd Avenue North in Bessemer and expanded in 2007.
