Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School or Our Lady of Sorrows Regional School is a private school affiliated with the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham. The school has 379 students in grades K3 through 8, and is led by principal Mary Jane Dorn.
The school was founded in 1896 with Sister Mary Alfonso as head.
In 1914 the school was located at 1401–1403 6th Avenue South (then called Avenue F) in Birmingham's Five Points South neighborhood. By 1935 it had expanded into the former Convent of Sisters of Mercy next door.
In 1951 the school moved to its present site on Oxmoor Road in Homewood. Architect Wilmot Douglas designed the new building, which also hosted church services until the neighboring church building was completed in 1960.
In 1990 an Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School Foundation was established to support the school. The foundation helped secure funds for restoration and renovation projects in 1991 and 1996.
Elementary age students can compete in basketball and volleyball through the Toy Bowl Association. Students in 7th and 8th grade can participated in AHSAA sports as members of the middle school athletics program conducted through John Carroll Catholic High School.
Our Lady of Sorrows School sponsors Cub Scout Pack 237 and Boy Scout Troop 237.
