James Robert Burton, IV, or Rob Burton (born March 30, 1989 in New York City, New York) is a Public Official in the City of Birmingham, Alabama. Rob moved to Birmingham, Alabama in December 2008. Rob is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Sustainable Water, Energy, and Economic Transition in Alabama (S.W.E.E.T. Alabama), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit "just transition" organization, focused on democratic economies and energy independence within Birmingham and the state of Alabama. He is also a Neighborhood Officer, serving as Secretary of both the Glen Iris Neighborhood Association and Southside Community Advisory Committee. Rob is the Secretary of the Board of Director's for the Birmingham Land Bank Authority, where he also serves as Chair of the Law and Legislation Committee, and Interim Chair for the Special Projects Committee.
