Secret Stages is a downtown music festival held the 2nd weekend of May at venues in the vicinity of 1st and 2nd Avenue North, and between 22nd and 24th Street North. The festival, which features up and coming bands at existing, new and even future venues in the Loft District, began in 2009 as a response to the loss of the Homegrown Stage for the 2009 City Stages festival. Bham-fm sponsored the first Secret Stages concert at Speakeasy. When City Stages folded in 2009, work began to expand Secret Stages into a multi-venue showcase, with the first true festival beginning in 2011.
