Weiss Dam is a dam on the Coosa River in Cherokee County. It was built in 1961, the uppermost of seven dams on the Coosa built by the Alabama Power Company. It was named for former chief engineer Fernand C. Weiss and creates the 30,200-acre Weiss Lake, which was impounded on June 5, 1961.
