Birmingham-Southern College Board of Trustees is a group charged with overseeing the properties and operations of Birmingham-Southern College.

Southern University was chartered as a "seminary of learning" by the Alabama Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South on January 25, 1856 in Greensboro, Hale County. Its board of trustees held its first meeting, now commemorated as "Founder's Day" on March 17 of that year.

Another school, formally called the North Alabama Conference College, but popularly known as Owenton College for its location in Birmingham's Owenton subdivision, opened in September 1898. It was renamed Birmingham College in 1906.

On May 30, 1918 commissioners from the Alabama and North Alabama Conferences agreed to consolidate the two schools as Birmingham-Southern College. It began operating under that name on September 11 of that year.
