The Regions Charity Classic (formerly the Bruno's Memorial Classic) was a regular event on the USPGA's "Champions Tour" (formerly the "Senior Tour") established by the Bruno family in 1992. The Bruno's Memorial Classic was named in honor of Angelo and Lee Bruno, who died in a plane crash just after the first tournament was announced. The first 14 tournaments were held at the Greystone Golf and Country Club.

2006 brought a new title sponsor, Regions Bank, and a new venue, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail course at the Ross Bridge Resort. Over 18 years, the tournament has raised more than $9 million for the Regions Charity Classic Foundation. Ronnie Bruno is president of the foundation and the Bruno family holds four seats while Regions Financial Corporation appointed six members. Regions' Bill Askew serves as chairman of the foundation's board.

The University of Alabama's Center for Business and Economic Research estimated the total economic impact of the event at $24.7 million.

In 2011 the event was replaced with the Regions Tradition, a "major" tournament on the Champions Tour, played at the Shoal Creek Golf and Country Club.

The 2010 tournament was held May 12-16. Dan Forsman shot a course record 62 on Saturday on the way to a three-stroke win at 20 under par. Naomichi "Joe" Ozaki and Peter Senior tied for second place.
