School Name

According to the A. H. Parker History Page, the school was originally called Negro High School with the name changed to Industrial High School in 1910. In A Dream That Came True, Parker calls the school by both names early on and does not mention -- at least in the bit I skimmed -- the name change. He also quotes a Birmingham News story referring to it as Birmingham Negro High School. I realize this name isn't politically correct, but much of history isn't. Should we note this information or wait for additional sources? --Lkseitz 08:04, 5 January 2007 (PST)

  • Both names should be indicated wherever appropriate. My supposition is that "Negro High School" was an unofficial descriptive name. --Dystopos 08:48, 5 January 2007 (PST)
