The books says the shop's address was 1003, but I don't know how much research the author did. The building was constructed with three store fronts. Edgewood Frame Shop currently takes up both 1003 & 1005, using the address of the former, but that doesn't mean TV Sales did. The space at the east end, where the painted ad is, would be 1005. --Lkseitz 10:23, 6 December 2012 (PST)

  • Well, I'm going to assume they did what I just did: look it up in the 1966 Birmingham phone book. It was indeed at 1003. And it was indeed simply called "Television Sales & Serv". It always bothered me that the name was so generic, but that's how it's listed in the phone book. Maybe the owner was trying to get anyone asking directory assistance for the category "television sales & service" to just get his number instead. Who knows? Anyway, the business does not appear in the '65, '67, or '68 phone books. --Lkseitz 14:15, 20 May 2014 (PDT)

Homewood Electronics Co.

There was, however, a shop called Homewood Electronics Co. located at 1013 Oxmoor Road. It was listed in the 1965 Birmingham Yellow Pages, but not '66, when TV Sales & Service showed up a few doors down. --Lkseitz 14:30, 20 May 2014 (PDT)
