The council is currently planning for a 12,000 square foot building which will house studios, classrooms, offices, galleries and performance space. In [[2008]] the City of [[Columbiana]] has helped the group obtain a portion of the former site of a [[Summer Classics]] furniture plant which burned to the ground on [[May 22]], [[2004]]. Planners envisioned a 26,000 square-foot performing arts center on the site. Architectural plans, commissioned from [[HKW Architects]] with grants from the [[Alabama State Arts Council]] and the U. Fund raising for the $5 million+ project and for operating expenses is under way.
The Arts Council dedicated the 20,000 square-foot Shelby County Arts Center at [[Old Mill Square]] in [[Columbiana]] in [[2019]].
