On April 16, 1978, the home of Carl and Annelle Bishop of Rock Mountain Lakes was the site of the first worship service of Rock Mountain Lakes Baptist Mission. The message was presented by Dr. John Smith. Following that service an offer was extended to Herbert Thrasher to become mission pastor and to assist in the organization of a community church.
