Reading Room in August 2006

"Reading Room" was a c. 2004 mural by Patricia Martin which was commissioned by Southpace Properties for the outside wall of Gus's Hot Dogs at 1915 4th Avenue North to enhance their surface parking lot on the corner of 4th and 20th Street North.

The concept of the work, which depicts a living room complete with a pink upholstered chair, a landscape tapestry, a bookshelf, table lamp and cat, was intended to reflect the transition of downtown into a place where people live and relax as well as work. The composition incorporated an existing through-wall air conditioning unit.

The mural was painted over in 2016.
