Daniel Scheinert

Daniel Scheinert (born June 7, 1987 in Birmingham) is a screenwriter, film director, and partner with Dan Kwan in "The Daniels" filmmaking team.

Daniel, the son of Ken and Becky Scheinert, attended Oak Mountain Elementary School and Oak Mountain Middle School, and graduated from Jefferson County International Baccalaureate at Shades Valley High School. He participated in Sidewalk Film Festival's "Sidewalk Scramble" filmmaking competition in high school and later interned for the non-profit.

Scheinert produced, directed and starred in the 2019 feature The Death of Dick Long which was filmed in the Birmingham area.

The Daniels' 2022 action film "Everything Everywhere All at Once" was a breakout critical and popular success. In January 2023 it was named "Best Picture" at the 28th Critics' Choice Awards. Scheinert and Kwan also won for Best Director and Best Screenplay, and Ke Huy Quan won for Best Supporting Actor.
