Each year the club hosts a members' meeting with a prominent speaker and a membership mixer which is a catered event open to the public with live music. Since [[1988]] the club has presented an annual "Jemison Award", named for [[John S. Jemison, Jr]], to honor outstanding area entrepreneurs.

The Birmingham Venture Club is an association of business professionals seeking to increase venture capital-related activities in the Birmingham area. The club was founded in 1985 and currently has its offices at the Innovation Depot. The current president is Billy Holbrook.

Each year the club hosts a members' meeting with a prominent speaker and a membership mixer which is a catered event open to the public with live music. Since 1988 the club has presented an annual "Jemison Award", named for John S. Jemison, Jr, to honor outstanding area entrepreneurs.
