Harold Cecil Coghlan (born in Santiago, Chile) is a retired cardiologist and former UAB professor.

Coghlan was born to an English doctor who met and married a native Chilean while working in the country. He studied medicine in Santiago, graduating in 1956 with a residency at Sewell Hospital there. During that year he translated for Tinsley Harrison at a medical conference in Chile. Harrison invited him to become a visiting researcher in cardiology at the UAB School of Medicine beginning in 1956.

Coghlan returned to UAB as a visiting professor in 1973. His research centered on mitral valve prolapse and dysautonomia. He invented a tilt test for heart disorders and pioneered its use at UAB. In addition to his research and teaching, he has participated in numerous visits with disadvantaged communities in South and Central America as well as Alabama to treat patients and instruct caregivers.
