David Russell

David Aaron "Mississippi Town" Russell (born c. 1951) is an insurance agent and frequent political candidate.

Russell has a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics from Alabama State University. He worked at his alma mater as an administrative assistant for 15 years.

Russell's first political campaign was an unsuccessful run for the Alabama Public Service Commission in 1982. He also ran unsuccessfully for the City Council District 9 position in 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2013, losing to Roderick Royal all four times.

Russell ran for Alabama House District 60 in 2002, 2006, and 2010, losing to Linda Coleman, Earl Hilliard Jr, and Juandalynn Givan.
