Glenwood Autism and Behavioral Health Services is a non-profit organization focusing on serving the mental health needs of children and teenagers. The organization has a special focus on working with those who are autistic.
It was founded by Vulcan Materials executive Glenn Ireland II in 1973 as Child Mental Health Services. The program began as a school for 18 children with autism and severe behavioral disorders, and has grown to a campus with 363 acres and 270 staff members.
Now able to serve up to 2000 clients, the organization is headquartered at 150 Glenwood Road, off Sicard Hollow Road in southeastern Jefferson County.
