Green Door Health Foods was founded around 1971 by Kitty Sutherland, Anne Kidd and Geraldine Snow, Jimmy Snow's mother. Geraldine had some medical issues that led her into the health food/vitamin business. The store formerly gave its address as 2845 Culver Road.

In 1994, Sutherland and Kidd sold to Geraldine. She turned the store over to Jimmy circa 2001.
