A third Hyatt Place Hotel and 6,000 square-foot restaurant was announced for the former Tom Williams Cadillac site on the corner of 20th Street and 4th Avenue South in October 2007. The proposed 150-room hotel would be developed as a joint venture of Corporate Realty Development and WeldenField Development. The site was purchased from Liberty National Life Insurance to serve demands of visitors to downtown Birmingham and UAB. Golden Construction will build the project, and Southern Hospitality Services, a division of WeldenField, will manage it. The hotel is projected to open in the first quarter of 2009.

In its December 11 meeting, the Birmingham City Council extended the completion of the "20th Street South Hotel" from December 31, 2008 to August 31, 2009 under the terms of CRD's Redevelopment Agreement with the City of Birmingham.
