Roberts grew up in the [[Concord]] area and attended [[Concord Elementary School]]. As a young photographer he considered photojournalist [[Spider Martin]] a mentor.


Later that year he was laid off as the ''News'' downsized as part of the [[Alabama Media Group]]. Shortly after being let go, he was diagnosed with an illness which claimed his live the following November.

Jeff Roberts

Jeff Roberts (born 1961 in Birmingham; died November 13, 2012) was a part-time staff photographer for The Birmingham News.

Roberts grew up in the Concord area and attended Concord Elementary School. As a young photographer he considered photojournalist Spider Martin a mentor.

Roberts joined the News staff in the mid-1990s.
