John C. Yarbrough Community Center
The John C. Yarbrough Community Center or "Trussville Community Center" is located at 215 Parkway Drive adjacent to the Trussville Public Library. It serves as a meeting place for a wide array of local groups and organizations. It takes its name from the former Trussville mayor John C. Yarbrough.
Constructed in 1967, this is one the best examples of contemporary 1960s architecture within the city. The center was designed by Turner Batson with Brasfield & Gorrie serving as the general contractor.
During the reconstruction of the Trussville Public Library in 1996, two classrooms within the center served as the library's temporary home until construction was complete in 1997.
The future of the center is unknown as a New Trussville Community Center is being built with completion scheduled for 2008.
