John A. Dedrick (born c. 1947) was an administrator for Homewood City Schools.
Dedrick received his B. A. from Miles College. He came to the Homewood school system in 1974 as a science teacher at Homewood High School. Later, when superintendent George C. French found out Dedrick was pursuing a graduate degree in administration at the University of Montevallo, French approached him about becoming an administrator at Homewood. In a short time, Dedrick became the school system's first African American administrator.
He served as assistant principal at the high school, then became principal of Homewood Middle School. In the summer of 1998, he was promoted to Director of Special Programs, a position he held until his retirement at the end of the school year in 2010.
