Richards worked under Frank Stitt before opening his first Taziki's in the Colonnade in 1998 after a visit to Greece with his wife Amy. By 2004 he had opened four Taziki's. In 2012 he stepped aside as the chief executive officer, a role filled by Jim Keet, and took the role of chief development officer. By 2014 Taziki's had 32 locations across nine states.
