This is a list of churches by attendance.

2009

These figures are from ongoing research by the Hartford Institute for Religion Research. The figures used in the study are self-reported by individual churches which responded to the survey and are meant to show the average weekly attendance at regular worship services over a sustained time period:

  1. Church of the Highlands--Nondenominational: 10,301
  2. Church at Brook Hills--Southern Baptist: 4,000
  3. Guiding Light Church--Nondenominational: 4,000
  4. Gardendale First Baptist Church--Southern Baptist: 3,800
  5. Briarwood Presbyterian Church--Presbyterian Church in America: 3,700
  6. Cathedral of the Cross--Assemblies of God: 3,500
  7. Hunter Street Baptist Church--Southern Baptist: 3,500
  8. 6th Avenue Baptist Church--Baptist: 2,600
  9. Dawson Memorial Baptist Church--Southern Baptist: 2,500
  10. Shades Mountain Baptist Church--Southern Baptist: 2,500
  11. Faith Chapel Christian Center--Nondenominational: 2,000

2005

These figures are from a 2005 study by the Hartford Institute for Religion Research. The figures used in the study are self-reported by individual churches which responded to the survey and are meant to show the average weekly attendance at regular worship services over a sustained time period:
