This is a list of former bulletin board systems (BBSes). Prior to the Internet becoming in common public use, computer bulletin boards were a way for people to communicate electronically using computers connected to phone lines. They were generally run as a hobby, although some charged fees either for access, more time, or access to certain features.
Note that a complete list of public BBS's in the Birmingham area appeared in each monthly issue of Birmingham Telecommunications News.
