James Millard "Whitey" Hayes (born February 25, 1912 in Montevallo; died November 27, 1993 in Decatur, Georgia) was a professional baseball pitcher.
Hayes played for the Edgewater mine camp in Birmingham's Industrial League. He made his minor league debut with the 1933 Atlanta Crackers of the Southern League. In 1934 he went 6-5 with a 4.30 earned run average in 20 appearances. In 1935 he pitched for the Chattanooga Lookouts, and went 5-9 with a 4.43 ERA in 24 games.
Hayes made his Major League debut on July 13, 1935 with the American League's Washington Senators. He appeared in seven games, but was cut after allowing 7 earned runs in 3 innings against Detroit on August 14.
Hayes returned to the minor leagues in 1938, pitching for the Tigers of the South Atlantic League.
