The company was formed in 1995 from the sale of assets from Reynolds Ready Mix to Paul Bryant Jr's Green Group, Inc.. The company expanded its facilities in the southeast in a series of joint ventures with CEMEX. Bryant exercised options to sell Green Group's interest in the joint ventures for $350 million in 2011.

Ready Mix USA is a corporate sibling of Block USA and Landscape USA, manufacturers of pre-cast concrete products. Until 2010 the company operated a concrete mixing plant adjacent to Malfunction Junction in downtown Birmingham.
