Richard W. Massey was an early developer in Birmingham.

Massey was president of Massey Business College, president of Terrace Court Apartments Company (built in 1907) and Humboldt Apartments Company, and president of Jefferson Investments Company. He developed the Massey Building which was built in 1925.

Massey resided at 1401 Beech Street (21st Way South) in the Joseph Turner residence.
