He played for Shelton State Community College in 1988, and was drafted that June by the New York Yankees. A third baseman, Davis was called up to the Yankees in 1994. After two seasons, he was traded to the Seattle Mariners, where he played four seasons. In 2000 he was picked up as a free agent by the San Francisco Giants.
