The company was reorganized again in 1902 as Sloss-Sheffield Steel & Iron Company when it acquired the assets of Sheffield Iron Company of Sheffield, Alabama, which included blast furnaces at Sheffield and Florence, ore fields in Franklin County and coal properties in Walker County.
