The Alternate was a twice-monthly alternative newspaper published by Angry Revolt owner Ken Forbes Jr in the early 1970s.

It was distributed for free and included editorials and articles on pop culture and local politics. Its stated aim was to help make Birmingham more desirable for young people to stay in, in part by making it face unpleasant facts about itself.
