- October 14: Milton Edward Fairley, 50, was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head, in his car parked on Short 20th Street between the Birmingham YWCA and Birmingham Fire Station No. 1 near Woodrow Wilson Park. He was believed to have been engaged in bootlegging liquor from Mississippi to dry counties in North Alabama. Jack S. Seymour was arrested and charged with his murder. (report)
