Revision as of 16:20, 31 October 2007

Banners are 575-pixel wide-format images submitted for use on the top of the Main Page. I plan to rotate banners periodically to give the site a fresh look. There's no guaranty I'll use all submissions, as I plan to be rather picky. The best banner images will have as many as possible of the following qualities (but the best might not have all of them):

  • Alluring (strong image, good composition, color, etc)
  • Illustrative of Birmingham in a general sense (inclusive, recognizable)
  • Seasonal (keep us fresh)
  • Documentary (try to shed some light on our documentary purpose)
  • Free (Creative Commons or PD images are preferred)
