Neighborhood map Central City

Central City is a neighborhood in the Northside community. It is separated from the Druid Hills and Norwood neighborhoods to the north by I-20/59 and 9th Avenue North; from the North Avondale neighborhood to the east by the Boyles Terminal Subdivision railroad tracks and 32nd Street North; from the Southside and Five Points South neighborhoods to the south by the Railroad Reservation; and from the Fountain Heights neighborhood to the west by 19th Street North.

The neighborhood includes the northeastern section of downtown Birmingham, including the municipal center surrounding Linn Park and the commercial district centered on 20th Street North.

Grade school students attend Phillips Academy and Carver High School.

The Central City Neighborhood Association meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the Story Castle Room at the Birmingham Public Library. Richard Burton is the neighborhood president. Sheleta Purifoy is vice president, and Summer Davis is secretary.
