The company operated from Birmingham's Innovation Depot. Its CEO was G. T. LaBorde, a former executive of MedMined.

In October 2015 Malcovery was acquired by Leesburg, Virginia-based PhishMe, which planned to keep its Birmingham staff at Innovation Depot, and employed Warner as "Chief Threat Scientist".
