After numerous construction delays due to periods of heavy rainfall and the Covid-19 pandemic, the building was completed during the spring of [[2021]] with an official ribbon cutting on Wednesday [[May 26]], [[2020]].  The dormitory opened to students in August [[2021]].

McMahon Hall (abbreviated MCMH, formerly called Residence Hall 2020 and Green Hall) is a 231,089 square-foot residence hall located on the campus of UAB. The residence hall is named for University of Alabama Trustee Emeritus John McMahon Jr. McMahon, chairman of Ligon Industries, is a long-time local philanthropist, and served on the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2013.

The dorm provides living space for consists of dedicated study spaces, a storm shelter, multi-use office space, and a 250 seat dining area with locations of Moe's Southwest Grill, Slice of Life Pizza and Einstein Bros. Bagels.

The $73 million building was designed by Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood. A groundbreaking ceremony for the was held on Thursday, November 15, 2018.
