Charles J. Buchannon (died January 15, 2023) was a Deputy Chief of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, supervising the Corrections and Civil Divisions of the department, as well as its Affirmative Action policies.

Buchannon served in the Vietnam War. He joined the Sheriff's Department on September 28, 1980 and worked in crime prevision, law enforcement assessment, and the investigation of youth gangs and child exploitation. He worked death investigations in the Bessemer Division and commanded the department's honor guard.

Buchannon was promoted to deputy chief in 2019. He died in January 2023.
