This article is about the community in Blount County, for the Birmingham shopping center, see The Summit.

Summit is an unincorporated community in Blount County, located along Blount County Road 48 near U.S. Highway 231, 10 miles northeast of Blountsville.

The community's volunteer fire department was organized in 1980.

Summit, Alabama is the fictional setting for O. Henry's 1907 short story, "The Ransom of Red Chief." Though the actual community lies on hilly terrain along the Old Cherokee Boundary, the settlement in O'Henry's story is described as being, "as flat as a flannel-cake."
