This is a List of homicides in 2021, including homicide cases reported throughout the Birmingham District. At least 5 homicides have been reported in the area for the year. Note that a "homicide" refers to the cause of death as determined by a medical examiner, not to the crime of murder as charged by prosecutors and adjudicated through the courts.

- January 4: Amanda Mooney Falkner, 48, was shot to death by a Shelby County Sheriff's deputy after she allegedly ran over another deputy who was responding to a domestic disturbance call on the 1400 block of Mooney Road near Columbiana. The injured deputy was treated at UAB Hospital. The Shelby County Major Crimes Task Force and Shelby County District Attorney are investigating the incident. (report)
