Under the legislation passed in 1966, the District was a separate government entity, falling under the Jefferson County Commission. It is currently headquartered at 2229 Center Point Parkway, adjacent to the Center Point City Hall and the district's Station 1, in the converted former gymnasium of Center Point School.

The Center Point Fire District currently provides service for residents of the cities of Center Point and Clay, and portions of the city of Pinson. It also covers unincorporated areas of Chalkville, Grayson Valley, Huffman, Robinwood, Pawnee and Ketona. The District is staffed by approximately 100 employees, staffing 4 fire stations, with 4 Engine Companies, and 4 Advanced Life Support Transport Units.
