Lee K. Seitz lived his formative years in the Birmingham area, primarily Homewood, throughout the '70s and '80s. (At the time of this writing in 2006, "formative years" covers about the first half his life.) He has fond memories of those times. He made the mistake of staying up late one night in 2006, updating the Wikipedia entry on the Alabama Theatre. This generated feedback from Dystopos and it's looking like it'll only go downhill from there. :-) A list of Lee's contributions to BhamWiki is available separately.

Birmingham connections

• Father worked for the Birmingham Post-Herald from before he was born to its closure in 2005.
• Mother was in charge of the Birmingham Bull-eivers (the Birmingham Bulls fan club) newsletter and attended many home games. He got to go to games often and also Bull-eivers events.
• Spent all 12 years of public education at Homewood City Schools, including four years in the Homewood Patriot Marching Band
• Was a frequent browser and customer of Homewood Toy & Hobby.
• Mother worked at Little Professor Book Center in the late 1980s.
• Loyal customer of Lion & Unicorn from its opening in the 1980s to the early 1990s.
• Did basic research for the Birmingham Historical Society for two summers.
• Was a "ghost" at a Sloss Furnace Halloween event (pre-Fright Furnace).
• Volunteered at the Alabama Theatre. Was also sometimes paid to operate a spotlight for shows that came to the Alabama, everything from the Alabama Ballet to Megadeath.
  • Worked spotlight for the first few years of Christmas at the Alabama performances.
  • Was a pallbearer for many Phantom fo the Opera performances.
  • Volunteered at the Alabama Walk of Fame induction ceremony.
  • Ushered at the Birmingham premiere of 4 Little Girls.
• Was somewhat active in the local BBS scene and an avid reader of BTN.
• Did setup and takedown for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra's "Pops in the Park" series one summer.
• Was member of the Alabama Chapter of ATOS.
