19th Street South (originally Center Avenue) in Homewood is a southern extension of Birmingham's 19th Street South, although the two have never connected. The approximately 0.4-mile, north-south road runs from Rosedale Drive through the Homewood Central Business District to Oxmoor Road. Another section of the street stretches one block north and south of 25th Court South in a residential portion of Rosedale, north of Rosedale Drive.

The road was renamed from Center Avenue during the 1940s when Homewood renamed several streets to continue Birmingham's street numbering system. It was "Center" in relation to East Avenue, two blocks to the east, and West Avenue, one block to the west.
