Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin's 2018 State of the Community address was delivered on Monday January 15, 2018, seven weeks into his 1st year in office. Woodfin addressed the public from Parker High School's auditorium at 5:00 PM.

In the address, Woodfin expressed gratitude for his opportunity to serve as mayor, expressing his love for the city. He stated that in his view, the "state of the community is an open question, that only you and I can answer together." After acknowledging the many positive changes that have taken place in the past few years, he identified poverty as the biggest challenge to making significant progress. He elaborated that developmental, educational, and workforce training opportunities will be an important priority for addressing poverty.
