55th Place South (or South 55th Place) is a small street in Birmingham's Woodlawn and Crestwood North neighborhoods.

It runs through the heart of Woodlawn's commercial district from 1st Avenue North to 1st Avenue South, then jogs to the west and continues over the East End District railroad tracks into Woodlawn Heights (Crestwood North) at 5th Avenue South. From there the street continues as 56th Street South, but another section of 55th Place South picks up a little further west and runs south past the former Woodlawn Infirmary. It turns sharply just north of the Alabama & Tennessee River Railroad track and runs westward to 6th Avenue South.
