The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball men's and women's teams represent the University of Alabama in the NCAA's Division I, competing in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Men's basketball

Alabama's men's basketball program has been overshadowed for most of its history by football. However the program has enjoyed years of success, especially under former coaches Wimp Sanderson and Mark Gottfried. The 1929-1930 team went 20-0 and was retroactively awarded a national championship by the Premo-Porretta Power Poll. More recently, the Tide has reached the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament eight times, and advanced to the Elite Eight once, in 2004.

The men's team originally played its home games in Little Hall, then moved to Foster Auditorium in 1939. The current home court is Coleman Coliseum, which was built in 1968.

Women's basketball

The Crimson Tide women's basketball team got its start in 1974. Since then the program has reached the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA women's basketball tournament six times, once advancing to the Final Four in 1994.

The team plays at the recently-renovated Foster Auditorium.
