EHS took over operations of the hospital in the 1990s Built in 1970, St Vincent's filed to build a new hospital in Pell City to replace the current facility. On August 20, 2008, the Alabama Certificate of Need Review Board approved a new hospital. St Vincent's plans to build a $31 million replacement hospital. The new hospital will be licensed for 40 beds, half the hospital's current license. It will be built on Jefferson State Community College's Pell City Campus.
