Center Point Fire District was created in 1969 after citizens living in unincorporated areas of north-east Jefferson County voted to create the department. Under the legislation passed in 1966, the District was a separate government entity, falling under the Jefferson County Commission

The Center Point Fire District currently provides service for residents of the cities of Center Point and Clay, and portions of the city of Pinson. It also covers unincorporated areas of Chalkville, Grayson Valley, Huffman, Robinwood, Pawnee and Ketona. The District is staffed by approximately 100 employees, staffing 4 fire stations, with 4 Engine Companies, and 4 Advanced Life Support Transport Units.
